Wipeout

We watched "Wipeout" on ABC last night.
Overall opinion: "meh".
MXC is much funnier. Wipeout needed more/better commentary and voice overs.

Cats and Dogs

I stumbled across this post on the AT website this morning. It's a rain gauge from Europe. Slim, simple, stylish, whatever, it's a rain gauge.

Then, I saw the price: $90 freakin' dollars! For a R-A-I-N G-A-U-G-E.

Here's a thought... get a plastic cup, a marker, and a ruler. Use the ruler to mark off increments on the cup with the marker. There, you've got a rain gauge. All for $1.29.

Honestly, do people really buy this crap?

A dose of OCD

Do you enjoy making lists?

Do you make lists not only of work stuff to do, but also lists for home? I'm not referring to grocery or other shopping lists. I'm talking about lists that include "sweep kitchen" and "do laundry" and "pay bills".

Have you ever added something to a list that you already did, just so you could have the satisfaction of crossing it off?

Have you ever put tasks like "shower" or "eat breakfast" on a list?

Well, have I got a product for you.

It's called "Backpack".

My brother introduced it to me last year. I've been using it EVERY DAY since. The best part? It's FREE for the basic version.

Backpack is an online program that can be used to create lists of all sorts. The basic version (free) gives you 5 "pages" for lists.

At only $7/month (the version I have), you get 100 pages, and can add pictures and files of all types (word docs, pdf's, etc.) and get an online calendar. Here are some sample pages.

So, satisfy your inner OCD and sign up.

Jumper

Cool concept. Terrible acting. Honestly, how does Hayden Christensen (Anakin Skywalker) find work?

up and over

Found this on the AT website this morning. It's a pre-made shelf, painted, and hung upside-down over the door frame. Not sure if the ceilings in our apt. are high enough to have this look good, but perhaps.

Invisible Bookshelf

Perhaps you've seen this online. It's an invisible bookshelf. Here's how to make one.
I plan on creating a couple myself.

Bangor's Rock Alternative

Those in the RI area are probably familiar with 95.5WBRU- alternative rock station.
Since moving to Maine in 1994, I've missed it. Country music and top 40 crap gets old real quick.

Last year, I found out that Bangor Maine has an alt rock station- 89.3WHSN- housed on the campus of the New England School of Communications (NESCom).

You can listen to it streaming online here: whsn-fm
I've listened to it on my daily commute since September.
If you like BRU, you'll like HSN.

The hand that feeds

The new Nine Inch Nails album is available for a FREE full download at theslip.nin.com
Now, I'm not a big fan of NIN, but I like free stuff.

No more pencils, no more books . . .

Well, another school year has come to an end. Bittersweet, really. 174 days have passed. Each summer marks the end of a routine- getting up at the same time, making coffee, packing a lunch, driving, seeing the same faces, the same class periods, and so forth. The summer also marks the few short months of vacation. Time to go fishing, hiking, and camping. Before I know it, it'll be September again.

Apartment Therapy Update

Well, it's been a month and a half since I posted about our Apartment Therapy home makeover. In theory (well, according to the A.T. book), we should be on week 6 of "the cure".

That's not quite the case. We're stuck in limbo between weeks 2 and 3. This past month has been so busy with job responsibilities either during the evening or on the weekends, that we just haven't had the time to really stick to it.

We did however, have a fun trip to Rhode Island to see my brother and went to Ikea in Mass.
Bought some great stuff.

I'm hoping we'll get back on track in the next week or two. There will be before/after pics as well. Our apartment is coming along nicely, we just need to get back to "the cure" agenda.

Dirty pervert alert

Creepy scene in the mall last weekend:
Mother and father (mid 40s) at the jewelery kiosk.
Daughter, 14ish, picking out belly button rings.
I witnessed dad get on his knees, his daughter expose her belly button, dad held the ring up to her stomach- dad's face inches from her belly button.
Mom and dad commenting on it- smiling and giggling the whole time.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH PARENTS?!?
Some people need a good slap in the face.
